Whether it&#8217;s an unexplained <a href=\"https:\/\/www.resources.kixcare.com\/en\/my-child-has-a-fever-what-do-i-do\/\">fever<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.resources.kixcare.com\/en\/a-parents-guide-to-surviving-the-seasonal-germ-pit-influenza\/\">influenza<\/a>, covid, gastroenteritis or something else (the list can feel endless) use these KixTips from our Pediatric Nurses will help guide you to know you are giving kids the care they need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, if you&#8217;re ever unsure or concerned about your child, it&#8217;s always best to speak with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.resources.kixcare.com\/en\/kix360\/\">KixNurse<\/a> or other healthcare professional for guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#4291ba;background-color:#f4fbf9;grid-template-columns:auto 17%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left has-black-color has-text-color\">Symptomatic Management and Treatment:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">KixTip 1: Rest<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Make sure your child gets plenty of rest to help their body fight the virus. Tired and low energy is ok. As long as they wake and respond to you appropriately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">KixTip 2: Hydration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Offer a variety of fluids frequently throughout the day. Small frequent sips of water, clear soups, and oral rehydration solutions will help prevent dehydration. Keep an eye on how often they pee, if they haven\u2019t peed or had a wet diaper in 6 or more hours, check in with your KixNurse!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">KixTip 3: Fever<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:16px\">If your child has a fever, give them Tylenol (acetaminophen) and\/or Advil (ibuprofen). Be sure to follow the dosing instructions for the child&#8217;s age and weight. If you aren\u2019t sure which to choose, we have a blog for that! Also, one of our nurses has a video on which med is the best choice, to help get you on your way!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">KixTip 4: Cough and Sore Throat<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Offer warm liquids, like honey mixed in warm water, to soothe their throat. Note: Avoid giving honey to children under 1 year old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:16px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.resources.kixcare.com\/en\/advil-or-tylenol-which-is-better\/\">Tylenol or Advil<\/a> are not just for fevers! They can also help with sore throats. If you can\u2019t figure out why your child is refusing eating or drinking and they can\u2019t tell you. Try giving some medication and see if they are more willing to eat and drink after an hour or so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">KixTip 5: Nasal Congestion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Use a nasal suction to clear their nose if they&#8217;re too young to blow it. Saline nasal drops can also help loosen mucus. Sleep with the window open to let the cool air in.
